Current Event: A shadow above the moogle
Current BGM:

There was something odd these days in the Mognet office, the deliveries had turned a bit shady at best in the eyes of a lot of the workers there, a great amount of the letters and packages delivered had been to very, very dangerous areas of Gaia, and the recipients of these messages had been people who looked to be up to no good, however, no evidence of it had been proven, so everything had continue to work as it had done for the last years.

“Sir-kupo...” A small, chubby Moogle entered the main office, where shadows were casted over the “Moogle” behind the desk, his chair was turned and only his voice was able to be heard. The chubby Moogle approached the desk with care, it almost looked as if he was afraid of what was behind the chair for some reason, but he did so anyways.

“...the new recruit is coming this afternoon...She’s a Lucavi” The Moogle said with a stutter, almost as if he did not know how his boss would react to this information, for a few seconds, there was nothing but silence in that office, the sound of the A/C was the only thing going on there, then the shifting weight in the chair made it cringe slightly and the man’s hand was seen on the side of it, interestingly enough, it wasn’t a Moogle behind that chair, but what looked like a human arm.

“I know, Matheus, that’s the reason why I brought her in...Now, leave” The person behind the chair waved Matheus away, the door closed behind the chubby Moogle and darkness engulfed the room, if anyone could see this man, a wide grin would have been drawn on his face, her hands would go together and grasp the deliciousness of his conquer...what conquer though?

Matheus headed outside towards the busy business office of Mognet, it looked like everyone there was rather busy with their normal business and no one seemed particularly worried about the new recruit, after all, why would they? It was not that strange to have someone new coming to work for them, but for some reason Matheus felt like there was something more to the hiring of this particular Lucavi, there was something else behind it and, he felt the need to find what exactly it was.

[...]

After the reactors cleaning deal, Alpha had heard about the Mognet Central and it’s whereabouts, it appeared as if it was pretty well hidden within the Mist Continent and the only way to access it was by riding a Chocobo, however, these creatures were hard to catch and even harder to tame, but it looked like after arriving in Treno, that’s exactly what Alpha would have to do if she was interested in joining this line of work. It wasn’t necessary of course, and she could have picked anything else to do instead of going looking for the Mognet Central, but was that really what Alpha had in mind?

Options:
- Role-play your way to the outer continent to where the Mognet Central via Chocobo rides!
- Spend some time in Treno, City of Vice Wink

Mogum had been nervous at first, wondering just what had roused the newborn’s interest in the Mognet. But with some coaxing, mainly a soft smile and a little pat on the puffed head, he decided to send a little of inquiry ahead to his superiors. There was the silent assumption that the head of their little organization wouldn’t accept having a non-moogle attempting employment. But there was a swift reply coupled with tickets to the next flight to the Mist Continent. A detour perhaps, or a prod at the origins from whence the wanderer had come. Either way, she was simply glad to be out of Midgar and somewhat on her way to something better as Swar had suggested. (Option 2)

Arriving in the Dark City was no different than coming to a city at night. The air was heavy with the perpetual mist, yet strangely electric by the sparks of lively light dancing through the city. It was astounding, this place, rendering the already silent woman near speechless. A slack-jawed expression did not do her a compliment but she could not help feeling overwhelmed under the electric glow of the city.

Much as a tourist would, she wandered with her little companion as a wonderful guide. He donned a little band over his head with a small flag in hand waving softly in the night breeze. He took her to the auction house of the city to witness the barter of rare items, then of course to the town center to acclimate her to a different kind of people. She had motioned to go to the slums at one point, but thought better of it considering how uncomfortably little Mogum shuffled when near. He had no problem however taken her to the little pub of the city; an obvious happening spot with a plethora of people and of course, the fine scent of bitter booze in the air.

The city was certainly lively, that much she could say without question. But for one reason or another it felt… too lively. As if all the inhabitants, the incredibly rich and the painfully poor were trying to escape something in the end. Or rather, not take notice of something that lurked over them. She wondered if it had something to do with the endless state of night. …or perhaps the fountain many a passerby seemed content to pollute with gil. It was an odd behavior considering how interested many races seemed in the currency. But that did not stop her from throwing 5 gil in herself in amusement. Perhaps there was something to the ritual…

Current Event: A shadow above the moogle
Current BGM:

Your stroll through the city didn’t give you much of an insight as to what the people in it had deep within them, the shallowness of their inhabitants were apparent, Gil. There was nothing else that caught the eye, fancy hats, cars clothing, the very rich disregarded any mercy towards human life in their attempt to fill their pockets with that precious valuable. The fountain was more of a last hope attempt from the poor, a bottomless pit filled with the dreams and hopes of those who desired a better life, a way out, some way to...survive. For the rich, it was nothing else but a game, something to entertain their children with, dreams of flying Pegasus, thrilling adventure, something different than the cold, working life their parents had.

However, something interesting did catch your eye, or well, different. Two men walked by the fountain heading towards the pub, they looked rugged, daggers at their waists and obviously looked like adventurers of some kind, what caught your attention though, was a bit of their conversation, something that definitively sounded a bit different than the normal conversations across Treno.

“Where you able to take it?”

“Of course I was, it was child plays, and they didn’t have it guarded at
all. What about yours?”

“It was...complicated. But I got it, Boss will be happy about it...I hope he doesn’t mind the mess I did to get it though”

And with that, they strolled into the little pub. What they were talking about was a mystery, but it appeared they were talking about some kind of theft, on this parts it was not that unusual, but there was something about them that did not strike you as if the crime had been committed in Reno. It wasn’t really any of your concern, if you did not want to take part in it anyways.

For now, the City looked normal, the flickering lights of Casinos would catch your attention and give you some options on what you might do next. The Casino offered a rather fun, “relaxing” way of unwinding, and it might prove to be a good investment, that if, you were actually a good player. For now, the options were not many, but they did have different ends to them.

Pick one of the two:

Follow the pair into the pub and find out more about these thefts

Go to the casinos and play some game. Role play your way playing the games winning/losing, Gil reward will be given depending on the role play. Remember though, these people are sharks and might not like people winning too much.

Taking a pause in their tour, both Alpha and Mogum took a little rest by the fountain. With interest both mild and polite, she watched as the rich and desperate alike threw their gil into the fountain, talking amongst themselves when in pairs… or alone in some cases with the wandering destitute.

She hadn’t intentions of staying in the city longer than she needed, but her companion was content to delay their trip to the Mognet Central for one reason or another. Even if the adorable creature would not admit it, the bother was apparent in his tightly squinted eyes. As if a kind of dread was upon him. One he wished to hide.

The tranquil sounds of the fountain eventually faded to noise as the whispers of men drew in her curious ear. She looked around to the pair, not at all modest in her survey of them. She noted the daggers at their hips with little interest, finding the items no different than the clothes on her back. An accessory as opposed to a dangerous weapon. They were the first, she noticed, to speak with more certainly albeit with a skeptical undertone. One that pulled the woman from her seat on the fountain and brought with her the sweet Mogum, all too excited to take a trip to the pub.

He sauntered in without hesitation then fluttered his eager way to the redwood bar. Alpha sat first to give the little one a comfortable seat made of her lap, then was silent was the moogle ordered himself a pint. (Moogle-sized, that is.) While they waited, she decided to look around for a bit, more so trying to find those men she had seen as opposed to really taking in the local color. A Ronso in the corner gave her a curious look when her eyes met the others, then quickly turned away as if embarrassed. Perhaps the female was waiting for someone and thought that Alpha might have been her.

The pub was not remarkably full. Only a few patrons crowded together in discussion of what they deemed important. Her eyes aglow with curiosity eventually came around to the end of the bar top where sat the two wanderers huddled down in the thick of conversation. Something had been taken and they seemed very happy about it. Perhaps they were like the party in Vector; adventures looking for something new and strange. Either way, she was curious to know what it was…

Current Event: A shadow above the moogle
Current BGM:

Entering this pub clearly told you that it was not a place you belonged, the lack of females in this place was...interesting and the vast abundance of big, smelly men was rather surprising. As soon as you stepped inside, the whole pub went quiet, you could feel their eyes burning into you as their heads turned, the bar tender however, kept whistling a cheery tune while washing some jars behind the bar.

The steps you took as you entered seem to last an eternity, the silence made it seem like you were stomping on the old, wooden tiles angrily and the smell of liquor and sweat started to stick to your clothes, soon enough, you had seen the men you were following, sitting at a corner table, strangely enough, they were the only ones not looking at you and simply carrying a conversation by themselves.

The moment you sat down, was the moment everyone seemed to forget they had taken an interest in you, the normal chatter began anew and the voices of men started to get lost in a myriad of conversations, none of which were of any interest to you. Your eyes would catch up on something rather interesting, it seemed that this place was rather lax on security, and on what their costumers did for a living, the two men you were following had taken out their apparent treasures.

One of them took a rather...interesting artifact. At the distance, you would notice a star-shaped pendant with a bright, green jewel at the center, but for some reason, the jewel wasn’t particularly sparkly, it looked rather dull, old and...Off. The two were talking about it, as the second one showed him a dagger, it’s edges were golden, the inside was an obsidian color and you could see engravings on the blade. But, there was something more to it, it definitively was magical.

“You are new around here!” A rather shady looking character sat next to you, bringing with him a jug of liquor, what it was, who knew, but he offered it to you. He grinned and looked over at you and your Moogle, on his waist, you would notice a couple of throwing knives and a dagger, it certainly looked like this place was the meeting grounds for thieves and criminals alike.

“Have a drink with me, will you? My name is Andrei Petrovs...I can’t say I have seen you around here, would you mind telling me your name?” He said with a rather petulant smile, on the table you were watching though, the conversation looked like it was getting a bit more...dangerous, as the two men had gone to almost whispers, with the items on the table that no one else seemed to notice.

Possible Options:
- Accept Andrei's drink
- Reject Andrei's drink
- Leave the pub

It was becoming painfully obvious that her social graces were lacking, especially by how intently she appeared to be listening in on the pair’s conversation. Or at least trying to. From her distance, she was able to spy their trinkets, the glittering things catching her eye like a magpie to a shiny coin. If only she could get a little closer, she might be able to better see. But of course doing so would have unsteadied her companion enjoying is moogle-sized pint. But she dared lean to the side a little more, balancing the legs of the stool by two instead of four. She kept herself braced, just leaning a bit at an angle…

Then snapped back in place when suddenly addressed by an unknown face. Mogum shot her a glance as he jostled a little in her lap then looked to the man who reeked of booze. “Drink?” Alpha looked to the dirty flagon and felt her skin crawl. There was a questionable film on the rim, both thick and foul… and something akin to saliva. [Option: 2]“I… um… no thank you,” she dipped her head politely, then turned her attention back to the pair of thieves. She needn’t be near to see the hostilities growing.

Apparently something was not ‘right’ with their arrangement…

Current Event: A shadow above the moogle
Current BGM:

Andrei’s didn’t like your answer at all, his face turned into something that could only be described by watching an angry child being denied their Christmas gift, but it quickly turned to a cocky, rather macabre smirk. He pushed the drink once more towards you, and whispered in a slithering way, certainly a way that would make you uncomfortable in the spot.

“Listen lady, I don’t know why you walked into this bar, but, this is not a walk-in, get served kind of establishment, you know?” He started and grabbed your shoulders, turning you to face him forcefully “Unless someone invited you in OR you force your stay, you either take my drink or get the hell out of this place”

At this point, you noticed something, everyone at the bar had gone silent, their eyes staring in your direction, it looked like rejecting Andrei’s drink had caused this to happen, even the men you were trying to eavesdrop in had stopped their chat and were now hiding their trinkets once more, their face had worry plastered all over it, but they had started doing something different, they were obviously trying to sneak out of the place.

“Now, lady, what will it be?” Andrei had gotten another drink and was offering it to you, his free hand was at his waist, grasping the hilt of one of the daggers he had, it was obvious this situation was either take the offered drink or start a bar fight...

“We should go...head over to the boss...this place will get crazy” You managed to listen to a small whisper from the two people you had followed her, they were planning their escape and it was apparently going to happen not long after this, so you had yet another worry, how you would handle this was up to you, but whatever you did, it was not going to be pretty.

She had been trying her hardest to avoid confrontation… or at least be kind to those she encountered. Though it seemed her kindness was not what this man wanted, but rather her attention to the drink that he continued to press on. His uproar earned him a rightful scowl from the woman. Her bi-colored eyes took the glow of brimstone though her posture remained calm and relatively poised. Just barely, she caught the whispers of the men she had been watching, their voices carrying urgency to leave for some reason. The silence of the pub was more settling than not, and to the moogle as well who took a long drink from his pint. For a creature literally in the middle of escalating confrontation, he certainly looked at ease.

The man pushed a pint closer, but again Alpha turned her nose from it. Her eye caught the glint of his sheathed weapon, but neither worry nor a chill coursed the length of her spine. Instead she looked down at Mogum as he finished his drink. A little mustache of foam coated his lip making for an adorable image regardless of the circumstance. He fiddled around at her hip for a moment, then freed three gil coins and placed them on the counter. “We’ll go then,” Alpha announced quietly, taking care in her dismount from the stool with moogle in tow. Perhaps if they waited by the fountain again, she would have a chance to see those men. But first, she needed to leave before a ruckus was started…
