(Taking Slot 1)
With little Mogum as her guide, the newborn was doing fairly well with her ‘reading’ and for the most part emulating the words and phrases spoken. Gradually it was understood that the woman was not mute, simply lacking the skills for pronunciation and articulation. Though her level of understanding was impressive when given the time to learn. In the span of ten minutes, the pair had managed to acknowledge several of the species in the guide. However it was the ‘hellhound’ that the woman kept going back to with some fondness. It was as though she recalled that image and rather familiarly tried to get the white-haired man’s attention to it as well. As eagerly as a child wanting to show their parent something interesting.

It was this child-like ignorance, this naiveté that led the woman to her present situation, with a slippery tentacle about her leg and the unpleasant tug of being dragged across the raft. She was… not surprised, but alarmed by this invasion, which morphed into apparent disgust as the foul-mouthed visage of the beast came forth. Like staring into the face of the heart of the Forest, she recoiled with nose and mouth scrunched with disgust as she pulled against him in protest. She reeled her leg profusely until it was made her own again. Once hers, she scrambled back to the center of the raft holding fast to her seat with white knuckles bore as she stared at the dreadful thing. Oh, it was foul!

Disgusted, she raised the back of her hand to her nose to stifle the stench but it was futile against the corrosive air it breathed. Her skin prickled under its foul rain as her stomach began to churn  [-100 + Poison (-63hp)] and she had only just felt the charge of adrenaline course through her veins, invoking she move with some semblance of hastened purpose [Cast Haste on Self | -60mp]. The spheres near her back once faint came alive as they turned around themselves in a conjuring succession. The glow of a charged red surrounded her as if by reflex of thought, then quickly turned black to expel a long red item. In her shuffle back, she’d nearly fallen over the redwood staff, but managed to feel it under bare foot before falling overboard into the waterway. Grasping the staff, she pointed its end toward the slippery thing as the spheres at her back froze in a tri-formed pattern. They trembled slightly then expended with the echo not of sound, but energy, encompassing the conjurer with its eerie red and black light.

Then it was released in dual succession, one concussive projection after the other toward the beast with a dull boom to deafen the ears. [Vector Concussion x2 | -120 mp | +1300 dmg (no Earth present)]

Spoiler:

Lorenzo sat cross legged, staring ahead, though he did manage to catch Edgar whisper something to the robot as the rafts set off.  Had his words sunk in?  Was their leader now perhaps brainstorming a new strategy with the computerized warrior?  Lorenzo could only hope.  So far this mission felt far too casual.  Sure, many of them seemed to be accomplished warriors, in fact, Lorenzo felt as though the robot, Rena, and himself, would have been more than enough to take on the mission, as it was described by Edgar.  Even with 300 Magi Tek Soldiers.  But, then, Lorenzo was the only one among them who had seen Adel in person.  Even to this day, nearly twenty years later, he would jolt awake at night, drenched in cold sweat, as a result of some Adel-related nightmare.  He may have addressed his beliefs in an overly dramatic way, but the facts remained… if he was right, and Adel truly was involved in this, than the nine of them simply would not be enough.  A thousand of them wouldn’t be enough.  Lorenzo didn’t want to exaggerate this situation any more than he already was, but a part of him honestly felt that all the combined armies of the world might not even be enough.  After all, it wasn’t enough seventeen years ago.

Put simply, Lorenzo didn’t think this group, or this situation, was being taken at all seriously enough… which was ironic, considering how he had spent the last twenty minutes pretending to be married to a fox.  Still, his frustration was compounded upon when, ten minutes into their journey, a tentacle shot out of the water and wrapped itself around the larger young woman’s leg.  What was worse, it did not merely stop at wrapping and pulling her away, no it was working its way up the leg, and even seemed to pause to caress her thigh, as a face with a massive grin rose from the water.  Now, Lorenzo, at this point, broke a bit.  That isn’t to say he wasn’t always a bit cracked, but it rarely showed.  Now, though, when he felt like things were so dire, he was suddenly faced with a situation so ridiculous that it just baffled him, and his mind just failed.  He could no longer think of Sorceress-killing stratagems or battle formations that would best compliment the robot and Rena’s skills (the two of them being the only ones in this group who he had actually seen fight).  No, his mind was completely and utterly thrown off track, so such a degree that literally the only words he could think of were… “Fuck it, time to mess shit up.”

The mighty spear, Gungnir was in his hand in a flash, as thick droplets fell upon them.  The droplets burned at his skin, and they were rank with some vile odor, and he stifled a cough as the girl yanked her leg free and leapt into action.  While she was firing off whatever it was she was firing off, Lorenzo was pulling a phial from his pouch, and drank its contents.  Then, as soon as there was an opening, he stepped forward.  Spear raised, he stabbed it into the creature’s ugly face.  But, not with the pointed end, rather the blunt butt of the spear was now pressed against the creature’s face.  Lorenzo spoke again, but now his voice was far different than before.  Deep, menacing, and with a reverberating quality to it.

“Your life, your blood, you are proud of your power.
But your soul, your very essence,
In truth, it all belongs to Hyne.
But I am a servant of our God, and the world I do scour,
You shall learn to fear my presence,
In the name of the almighty, this energy is now MINE!”

A bright red light could be seen glowing at the blunt end of the spear, where the weapon and the creature’s flesh met, and as Lorenzo finished his poem, his incantation, his prayer, the light shown brighter, and shot up the shaft of the spear, running the length of the weapon, and into Lorenzo’s arms and body.  His spell done, he jumped back, to avoid the incoming tentacles that would no doubt pull him into the water below.

He felt himself pulled onto land via some sort of ability - though the hand on his shoulder made him pause. Suddenly, he wasn't wet any more. This, of course, was a really good thing - he hated being wet. Though that wasn't what caught his attention - the person who'd pulled him out, leaned forward and spoke.

About old Gaia

Asher's eyes widened, and he looked taken aback, until he looked at her closely... and realized he recognized her.

"Rena!" He called, cheerfully, throwing arms around her in a quick hug. They hadn't been super close friends, but anyone that had fought alongside him against Solomon's Key was a friend in his book - especially since they shared a common thread. They were both Blighted. They both knew what it was like to have those... impulses. Asher had never actively succumbed to those voices, but they had progressed nonetheless.

It left him feeling a little empty. Though he put on a good face regardless. "I--"

But he felt the back of his collar get snagged and he stumbled back with it, making another little ungraceful sound. Blar! No, he was not happy. But he wasn't wet, so there was that. He found himself on a raft. "Thank you Rena! We'll talk again soon!"

He was informed, calmly, to sit. Stay. Not the nicest of tones, but... he was okay with that. Orders he could do, even if the one giving them wasn't SeeD. He blinked as Lorenzo began his explanation. He was familiar too - until his eyes widened. "You're the lancer! I remember --" He coughed, realizing he was rudely interrupting the guy's anti-sorceress tirade.

Whatever, if this guy was against Sorceresses, he was against Blue, so that was good enough for him. Had Blue made it to this world? It wouldn't be fun to have to put her down... but not anything he'd hesitate to do. Not any more. He remained sitting on the raft, as it coasted gently down the water, his focus trying to be internal. Though, introspection had never been something he was good at, it was something he'd learned to do.

He still felt dizzy. His muscles felt less powerful, and his stomach felt like it wanted to get rid of anything in it. Luckily, there wasn't - he hadn't eaten yet. Not that it was anything he did any more unless he needed taste, but his connection to the Farplane felt tenuous at best. He just let out a sigh, his tail wagging back and forth.

Noise erupted before them, and tentacles... did something. Oh jeezus, he remembered tentacles. He also remembered that he didn't like them. He shot up to standing, though he wobbled, dizzily. He made a little noise, and focused on a single point - the tentaclemonster.

"I hate tentaclemonsters." He whined, trying to find his footing. He felt unbearably incapable of doing anything. but that wasn't entirely true - he could move. He could speak. He could... something. He closed his eyes and focused.

"Haste. Haste! Haste!" He let his hands move, as the mystical 'gears' around his fingertips flooded around himself. He felt his metabolism spike, sharply - then to Lorenzo ( the only guy he knew ) and the white-haired man that had yet to move. ( No - Name ) He whimpered, and slumped a little bit, dizziness overwhelming him as he went.

Actions:

1, No Name was shocked to say the least about the appearance of the strange creature, though its intent was clear. He drew his sword as the others committed their initial actions in the fight. The girl alpha used some kind of strange magic proving perhaps that she wasn't as feeble as her looks would have one believe. The creature though unleashed a strange poisoning cloud which rained down acid like water that irritated the skin and left him feeling ill. However in reaction to the strike he would unleash his own counter attack, taking the power and pain of the magic and turning it against the enemy No Name would slash out with a cutting wind that carried droplets of the monsters own acid upon it. [Empty Sky Form:Void Advance]: 100/20= 20+200 = 220DMG, -15mp. 1 negative Karma gained. ATK increases by +50 , Guard -50,-25mp

2, Attacking had began the process of No Name's other innate power as a Karma chain was formed. Indulging his more aggressive nature he felt strength coursing through his veins as Karma granted him its gift, a slight grin painted his face as he began to enjoy the flow of battle. He held out his sword as void energy gathered on the blade, then slashed forwards in an arc unleashing the power onto Ultros. [Empty Sky Form: Void Shredder]: 150+250= 400DMG, Healing effects on Ultros are ineffective until 400 DMG has been healed. -90mp. 1 Negative Karma gained, Haste + DMG increase by 20% -25mp.

3, The newest member of their party cast a spell on him increasing his speed of movement, not only that however the power of his Karmatic gift also kicked in increasing his strength and aggression as well as granting him with a slightly menacing red aura. Unfortunately this also had a side effect of making him much more reckless in battle than he would normally be, and this showed when his next action was spent jumping off the raft and onto the Octopus's head skewering it with his sword. " I'll chop you into fucking calamari!, THAT BITCH IS MINE". Clearly his thoughts on the Octopus laying a hand or otherwise slimey appendage on the girl Alpha was something that in this state of mind he took offense to. Once he was done he would remove the blade and jump backwards onto the raft with the same sadistic smile on his face, it was as if he was someone else entirely. [Attack]: 250 +20%=300DMG, 1 Negative Karma Gained. Atk Increases by 20%. -25mp

K138Y was already rolling her eyes at the speech made by Mr. One Arm. His rant held nothing solid behind it, just opinions and fears. Now that she thought about it though, so was her decision that there was a summon involved. She wanted a summon to be involved and had thus allowed herself to decide there was one at the earliest convenience. Hearing his rant made her realize just how crazy she would of sounded asking about a summon so for now she would keep that idea to herself and just keep the hope in mind. Her feelings towards the rant were confirmed when Edgar whispered to her sarcastically. "I'd go with speculation, perhaps a little paranoia." K138Y whispered back. She didn't laugh though, despite feeling a slight urge to do so. Her laughter still hadn't been reactivated after trying to keep it down at Rena's previous joke. She activated it now but the time for laughing had passed.

Edgar answered some of the questions and everyone seemed satisfied for approximately ten minuets, according to her internal clock, it seemed Edgar was a really nice person and K138Y liked that. She hoped he would consider friendship with her and the rest of the group, not just consider them tools for the job. In the ten minuets it took before something else happened K138Y found herself trying to make small talk with her guardians.

"So Rena, what exactly is Mr. One Arm's name? We have met once before but never exchanged names." It was about time she got a real name for him, K138Y took a moment to explain the battle beneath Bevel they had shared together. "Do you recognize anyone here Zolanius? Have you ever considered a shorter name? Rena always shortens mine to K.Y. but I don't really know what the social protocol is on doing that." She had considered shortening his name several times, the way she had Johns, but did not want to offend her guardian. John was a man she hardly knew.

When the big purple tentacle shot out of the water K138Y began readying a summon, always her go to response, but her raft moved to far away to quickly as the creature rose from the river and added to the speed of the boats distance. Ultros, the name the small Moogle yelled, seemed like a potentially dangerous creature. Moogle search showed him as quite the threat and that made K138Y consider attempting to help anyways. But they were just too far away. She just had to have faith that all the lights shining in the tunnel meant that the other raft could handle their share of things. Instead she turned to Edgar to figure a bit more out.

"I see why you needed such a large crew." This wasn't exactly the reason but it certainly applied. "Any idea what the chances are of another one of those popping out of the waters?" If he knew there was more than one they could be ready to fend it off before it even had the chance to halt the raft. "Or maybe any other surprises before we get there?"

Smiling when Asher had suddenly hugged her she returned the warmth a moment, glad he recognized her, she watched him a moment but could almost see the thought in his eyes of their Blighted conditions. She was about to shush him on that note when he was snagged and pulled off into the other raft, yelling back his thank you.

* Your welcome Asher, and yes we'll talk later.. *

After the brief meeting she was into their own boat with Ky, Zola and Edgar, sitting with tails in the water as they began moving along the waters surface. As she sat their for a few moments before someone was going on about a sorceress, she would cross her arms and close her eyes a moment. Feeling the world around herself some as she confirmed that even far off in the world she had regained access to her airship. Glancing over the side of the raft when she felt something brush past her tails, looking into the water before away with a heavy sigh. She could feel the form of something swimming through the water, looking to Ky as Edgar leaned over to whisper in her ear after Lorenzo gave his own account of things as he saw them. She could only think on the words Edgar had told them of the 300 troops that were around the site of impact, nodding a thank you when he told her it would be twenty minutes till they reached their destination. She looked to Ky once again when she asked who the one armed man was though.

* That would be Lorenzo, he's from the other world like us. Not actually Married but he seems to have gotten confused and believed it to be real, more sign of which could be this strange theory of his he was yelling about. *

Now she wouldn't normally wish bad upon anyone, but when the other raft was suddenly held back and seemed to be in a bit of distress she would watch a moment as their own raft pulled ahead. Glancing to Edgar when he mentioned they couldn't go back for them she didn't mind, Asher was their and maybe Lorenzo would be pulled in. It was unlikely but possible still, but as she turned and settled again she would look to Ky once more, leaning over to whisper in her ear/sensor

* I have to wonder what such a rush were in that all of us could be here for this.. but it's better to move ahead instead of helping them and then going with the additional assistance still? *

Smiling as she'd nudge Ky gently before looking to Edgar a moment.

* So is their no other information on this object that needs to be blown up.. no offence against taking things into your own hands, but it's not often Royalty goes on a mission that could possibly endanger their life even if it's to help a rebellion. Your not entirely dressed for such a task at this moment, Mind you I’m merely curious after all I did volunteer to come all this way. *

She mostly came the entire way to help out Ky with whatever this mission was in all honesty, the added bonus being whatever Midgar paid her in the end for her troubles and any information she could take back to them. Her eyes moving to Zolanius a moment now to see how he was reacting to leaving the others behind in their fight against whatever had now delayed them.

* Zola whats your take on the situation, do you think this tunnel will hold up back there with a fight going on? *

Curious as she was she pulled her tail tips out of the water as the water didn't go with them, coming from the cool liquid as dry as they had gone into the water to begin with. It wouldn't surprise her if their was another beasty down here but that made her think as well, with these tunnels being used but whatever rebellion their was you'd think most monsters would have been cleared out long before. It seemed all the previous talk of fish and what have you may mean this situation was more fishy then it had a right to be.

Lorenzo... So that was the guy who had gotten all speculative. Seemed kind of like a loon to Zolanius, but he wasn't one to simply disregard the thoughts of another. He might have something, he might not. This doesn't really affect Zolanius one way or another, but what was a little bonus was that Rena mentioned the marriage being fake. This opened him to flirting again, but he'd hold off on it until the mission was over. They needed professionalism so he'd hold a lot back. As for K138Y's question, asking if he had a different name to go by. True, he had a long name, but didn't really care what he was called. "Oh, you can call me whatever you feel like. Zola, Zol, Z... You could call me by my last name, Thyre, or my middle name, Alex." He looks to her and gives a sort of warm and friendly smile. "I've even been called Xander.~"

A brief moment after that, he caught wind of the creature attacking the other raft. He was about to go after them, to assist in the battle by having the Raven Shade fly him over. But when Edgar mentioned that they'd have to left behind, he remembered that they had a mission. This did not stop his lust for battle, however. Rena's question would be answered by the expression on his face, wide-eyed with a glowing gold shimmer in his pupils. A black mist was forming around him, and his composure was altered to something much colder than he was before. "Structural integrity of the tunnel is sound, and may hold, provided the battle does not get too far out of control. Given the strength of the those in combat, they can hold their own, but should still be careful." After that, he turned back to normal, to his regular demeanor as the shimmer faded. "Yeah, they've got this. We need to keep going anyways. The mission is priority."

All his tentacles raised up out of the water and struck out at each person who had stepped up to battle against him, this attack was quite powerful and had the party not been well versed in battle.....it could well have been deadly. Current Event: Angel Fall
Current BGM:

Party 1
Edgar, K138Y, Rena, Zola

Soon enough the raft with the other party on it would drift away into the distance, the others leaving them behind in order to get on with the mission. " None, Ultros is....one of a kind".  Edgar had said that there was going to be a delivery shipped over to the research labs soon, if it was delayed any more than it was possible that this entire mission was for nothing. It would not take too long and the first raft would drift out of a tunnel entrance leading down a river, Edgar would stand with the oar and begin to paddle over towards the western side of the shore.

Both sides of the shore were hidden behind small hills, getting out of the raft as it landed Edgar would tie it off to keep it from floating further down. The King would turn to the three remaining members of the party and address them " Its just over this hill, try and keep your heads down. Now that there's less of us it means that there's going to be more of a risk involved".Edgar would lead the party over the small hill, the sight they would be greeted with was a sea of red tents surrounding a huge crater. Within the crater there was a large fractured meteor....but tangled within that meteor was a metallic structure that wasn't all too visible from here.

" So, we have a few options as to how we do this...we can all try to sneak in....or you lot can create a distraction whilst I place the explosives.....or...Well if we're feeling particularly suicidal we can charge in guns blazing"

  • Decide what to do

Spoiler:

Lorenzo watched as the white haired man jumped into action.  Lorenzo had assumed the man was one of those arrogant bossy types who took themselves too seriously, but now that he saw the man fight, it seemed he was wrong.  No, this man was a complete sadist.  He would have to be careful about him in the future.  Not least of all because he seemed to have staked a claim on the young woman they had been sharing the raft with.  She may have been taller than most, but there was no denying a certain innocence there that Lorenzo had initially mistook for stupidity.  She would be easy prey to a perverted man.  Of course, that was the least of Lorenzo’s concerns at the moment, and if he didn’t remained focused on the matter at hand, they would all become easy prey for this perverted monster.

The creature squirmed for a moment, and then several tentacles lashed at the entire group.  The little moogle had managed to flit between the slimy appendages, avoiding being hit, the rest of them seemed to be hurting.  It felt like cold, wet whips, striking his flesh.  Surely the others were in just as much pain.  Lorenzo paused for just a moment, considering.  He had something up his sleeve that could ease the suffering of this group, and enable them to fight on harder than ever.  But, it would leave the entire area so consumed with magical energies that he’d not be able to do it again anytime soon.  And, he had to remind himself, that this beast was barely an appetizer.  If Adel truly was here, he would need this trump card for later.  Sadly, his allies here would have to tend to their own wounds…

Instead, he decided to focus on getting this octopus fried as quickly as possible.  And he had just the trick.  He stood back, reaching deep within himself.  He envisioned it a bit like a gateway deep in his soul that locked away the power comparable to that of a Sorceress, the power of Hyne.  This was the just a small taste of the power he was fighting against.  And not even a speck, compared to the power he was hoping to revive by hunting these Sorceresses.  Even so, he felt the magic surge through him like the torrent of a thousand dams bursting at once.  It was as though his body was alight, a blaze of energy.  There was no incantation or prayer for this.  No words could possibly describe this change.

Of course, it was one thing to have power, it was quite another to use it.  And, now that he was moving again, he felt his body reacting a lot quicker to his commands than it normally would.  He had somehow been granted a speed boost during the fray without noticing it.  Who could have done that?  He glanced, just for a moment, back at his allies, and his eyes fell on Asher.  Yes, Asher was a powerful fighter… but he also obviously could not swim.  Lorenzo had assumed this would have made him utterly useless in this battle, but, for the third time in as many minutes, he had been proven wrong.  Despite huddling as closely to the center of the raft as he could, Asher had managed to boost him, and aid in this fight.  And, he was about to aid them even more.  Lorenzo reached out a metal hand, placing it on Asher’s shoulder.  The hand of flesh and bone held the spear outstretched pointed directly at the creature.  Lorenzo’s imagination once again took over, as he envisioned himself pulling knowledge directly from Asher’s body.  He spoke, once again in the booming, intimidating voice of his incantations.

”Power of rock and earth and dirt,
Through wind and time they become scattered,
None shall outlive the eternal Hyne,
Your body becomes ancient, your body shall shatter!”

Finishing his poem, a layer of rock and stone would form over Ultros, as if time was on fast forward and the creature was suddenly becoming fossilized over the course of a few seconds.  Lorenzo didn’t wait for the spell to finish taking effect though, as he had already begun drawing up the power for the next one.

”Power flows, energy collides,
Hyne calls to you. Time to die.”

The more complex the spell, the more energy and thought Lorenzo had to put into it, and thus, the less thought he could put into his on the spot prayers.  They couldn’t all be winners.  Still, as short as this last incantation was, it served its purpose, as the entire tunnel before them became filled with a ball of fire and heat.  Assuming the creature hadn’t turned completely to stone from the last spell, this one, he hoped, would boil him up entirely.  And if not, well, Lorenzo’s still had a few tricks up his sleeves.  They just needed to end this quickly and catch up.  They were needed elsewhere.

He groaned a bit, as he tried to get his head back on straight. It wasn’t just the moving raft that had him off his game – he’d been like this ever since crossing through the gate. It was like his body wasn’t his own. It felt like his body, his tail, his muscles… it all felt fine on the surface… but it was like he was disjointed. As though his body had forgotten how to function.

Skidding a little bit, he focused to jump out of the way of the tentacle that was lashing towards him. He even prompted the muscles in his legs – and was caught by the side of it. He hit the raft with a thud, head banging uncomfortably against it. His jaw set, and a little bit of his normally happy-go-lucky mood was set wrong.

By the time he was back on his feet, Lorenzo was by his side – a hand reaching out to his shoulder. He was about to thank him for helping to steady Asher, until he felt a subtle tug at his core essence. The magic he knew – but wasn’t sure he could bring to bear on this creature in his current state – filtered into Lorenzo. It wasn’t uncomfortable – in fact, he was used to his energy being borrowed – but it wasn’t expected.

Still, it was a good thing Lorenzo could, because in his current state, Asher was feeling less than capable. He watched the magic crash into the possibly now-deceased octopus. Shaking his head, the smaller monkey boy could think of nothing else to do, so he brandished his weapons. Thankfully, Rena had pulled the water from him and his things, otherwise they’d be pretty useless to him.

He lifted both guns, and took aim, sighting with an unusual thoroughness. Normally, he could just move the guns, squeeze the triggers, and hit with almost preternatural skill. But he didn’t trust himself for now. He took a ‘training’ stance, using Lorenzo’s arm as a brace.

Finally, once he was sure he would tag the octopus, he just squeezed the trigger.

K138Y kept herself turned towards the tunnel all the way up until they exited the underground river. She was constantly considering turning back or sending a summon through the tunnel, though was also watching their backs since Edgar didn't seem to quite know what might be waiting in the tunnel. Valefor, she considered, could fly over the river and Bahamut may even be able to swim up the current. Focusing her hearing K138Y was almost certain she could hear the sounds of Lorenzo's booming chants still, but it was hard to say. Rena seemed to look at the situation as just leaving them behind and in many ways she was right. But she was also wrong. The other raft was filled to capacity, maybe more, there wasn't any room for another fighter on board. Those present might even be getting in each others way as it is. Rena could have teleported back and simply been in the way even further. Zolanius could have summoned the shade, but he may have ended up filling the slot of a stronger fighter. Even a summon might have taken up to much space and potentially compromised the integrity of the cavern. Xander seemed to think the integrity was quite sound, but where was he pulling that information from? Xander was just a crazed jester after all. What sort of skills did he have to be the judge of suc--

That wasn't the right Xander. K138Y hadn't realized at first that she knew the name from Other Gaia. The first person she had ever met when leaving the trash heap Zanarkand, she was also quite certain he had died there. Mentally K138Y made a note of a division between the two Xanders, being certain to separate the information into different folders of sorts. There was enough confusion going on in her head that she didn't need to be miss identifying people and going on repetitive error rants about the name. At least this time it had all been in her head, though she did have to double check it hadn't been spoken. In the end she decided to make another mental note to ask Zolanius about the name. Maybe there was a chance that Xander had lived then somehow made it to New Gaia.

K138Y followed Edgars orders while on the shore and kept her head down. Doing her best to examine the area from the hidden position. The tents gave an idea to how many opponents they might be dealing with. There was presumably a decent sized extraction team, a number of field scientists, and then the majority would be soldiers just in case the resistance tried to show up. Pretty much exactly like they were about to do. The crater was still visible as was the meteor, it had fractures running through it from impact. The supposed satellite was visible, but only barely, if she had't known the meteor had hit the satellite it probably wouldn't be noticeable at all. Then again, even now, it might be something that the meteor made impact with on the surface. There wasn't enough detail to go on from this distance. All that was really clear was that Edgar wasn't joking when he said the eight of them would hardly be enough to handle the number of troops. Based on his suggestions of action K138Y formulated a battle plan and proceeded taking the liberty to explain it while keeping her voice down.

"Well Edgar, if no one mind I have a bit more specific battle plan. I know our two other team members here pretty well " She gestured to Zolanius and Rena, her two guardians. "and I think I can assign decent jobs based on their skills. Rena can teleport to anywhere she can see, idk what your skills are Edgar but I'm guessing you can't cover ground that fast. I say you give her the explosives and let her plant them. Not to mention she is a great fighter." She nodded to Rena, a sign of acknowledgement that said she was certain Rena was capable of such a task. "Zolanius, I'm sorry to say, isn't the strongest fighter in the world. Not yet. But he is capable of being sneaky and has some sneaky tactics of his own. I think he should go with Rena, dividing us into separate groups." Another nod but this time towards Zolanius. She hoped he wasn't offended by pointing out his lack of strength. He made up for it in resourcefulness and hopefully new that. "Edgar, you and I will provide the distraction. I'm not sure what skills you have but I'm hoping you can buff and heal. I'll got in with my summon Iffrit and start burning tents down to gain attention. " it combined all three plans. K138Y would go in guns blazing which would create the distraction, Zolanius and Rena would use that to sneak around and place the explosive, and Edgar could provide support. Depending on his skill set Edgar could prove quite useful.

As the calamity of the battle ensued, the woman became less understanding of the situation. Thus far, all she came to understand was when a creature was attacked, it was meant to fall over, or at least falter if not writhe in pain and fear. But this creature… regardless of bombardment simply smiled with its foul fanged grin and laughed as it spoken suggestive non-sense. It was… unnerving, this strange sultry tongue, and did it work well to send a chill down her spine.

She head fast to the staff as the course of strange energy flowed from the dancing spheres (yet to be seen by her) into its redwood composition. She watched the slimy beast as best as she was able from within the dark corridor, but her eye could only travel to as far as what was in front of her. The whip-like tentacles recoiled, drawing back with built tension then snapped forward with merciless precision into the raft kept band. [Damage -400hp | Poison -10% (-2hp)] Unlike the initial appendage that had snaked the length of her leg, this one was far less kind, striking hard at her mid-section and throwing her into the backside of the vessel. Her back creaked in agony as her front stung from both impact and internal damage. The bitter taste of something unpleasant rose from her gullet to tongue, of which dribbled from her maw in dark beads of red upon her bare legs.

She shuddered in breath as her lungs were labored. Her core ached in pain, and in agony, she recoiled into herself. She did not like this feeling… but oddly it was familiar. She knew of this discomfort, this pain.

Trying to catch her breath, she watched as the creature was encased in stone, but the strength of it would not allow for its isolation beyond a few seconds. [Bosses cannot be Petrified in battle] It shook the layer of earth away like water from its back with a hideous cackle. And to the faces of it attackers it giggled still, wiggling its tentacles in a strange mirth. It was the smile that got to her, the lecherous smile that promised further discomfort. And she wanted to be rid of it before it sought to lash out again. There was no thought behind her methods, only a feel… an innate desire made, as she channeled the energy from endless space into her staff then released it thrice over between the wide eyes of the beast. [Vector Concussion x3 | -180 mp | +1950dmg] Upon the release of energy, the woman slumped against the side of the boat.

Current Event: Angel Fall
Current BGM:

Battle VS Ultros
Battle Party: Alpha,Lorenzo,Asher,No Name
Battle Theme:Decisive Battle
Additional Rules: Asher is unable to use CA's due to his current befuddled status. However he can ATTEMPT to use a level 1 CA from his arsenal, dice roll will decide success. Mal will decide effect of CA.

Name: Ultros
Description: Ultros is a large purple wise cracking Octopus with a penchant for cute girls ( and guys). Despite his humor and overall annoying attitude he is in fact a predator which will not hesitate to drown and or eat you all. Ultros also has a unique habit of surviving almost impossible situations and returning later on to stalk his intended cutie target.
Scan Info: Scan to obtain

HP:1832
MP:2000/2000

Combat Abilities:
Ink: 300dmg all + Blind
Tentacles! 400 DMG all
Imp Song: Inflicts Poison + Mini  on single target
DELCIOUS: Eats a target, only capable of doing so if target is mini'd
Acid Rain: Ultros casts a polluted water spell on targets inflicting 100 DMG + poison
Octo-Defense! Skin temporarily grows tougher halving the effects of magic and physical damage.

Actions:

1, " Oh no!". Yelled Ultros as it broke free of Lorenzo's stone spell. The constant attacks for a brief moment had let up, but the concussive blasts of Alpha's magic combined with Lorenzo's had left the creature both stiff, stunned and stir fried. " I might  lose this!". It jumped and wriggled once again magic gathering around the octopus for an unknown attack....[ Summoning?]

2, In the meantime the creature's skin would begin to grow scaly, no longer soft and slimy like before but now tougher. [Octo-Defense!] Damage from all attacks reduced by half! As the creature's channeling went on a strange wind began to blow through the tunnel, this though was odd enough as though such things in caverns were not impossible...you know that any kind of wind from the outside would need to travel ten minutes in either direction to reach you and would thus not be as powerful. Just what was Ultros doing?...

Asher groaned, as he realized the creeping Kalimari was still up and... creeping. This was so silly - he wanted to just... explode the thing. But as it turned out, with his body being so rebellious, things were a lot more difficult. Grumbling, Asher sighed.

"Keep me still again?" He asked, as he focused his sights on the creature. It was doing some sort of creepy pedopus dance that was probably going to result in tentacle-rape maneuvers for everyone. His eyes narrowed, as he once more leaned against Lorenzo, tail twitching gently to try and keep his balance. This would be so much easier if he could bounce around as he normally would.

He saw the gentle green mist tag the remainder of his group. That was good - he wasn't terribly injured, and he could handle a bit more before he would start worrying. In fact - worst case scenario, his Blight would keep him alive, as it always did. Shaking his head, he let out a breath, and again, squeezed the triggers.

Each burst of fire, echoed loudly in the cavern, where wind was already starting to push his fur. Whatever the pedopus was doing now, they needed to shut it down as soon as possible. He didn't want to find out what sort of thing it was going to do.

Hopefully the rest of the team could follow up - he was getting too dizzy.

After the gunshots, Asher slumped off of Lorenzo, so that he could move - Asher would simply provide cover fire from his place in the dead-center of the raft.

Though she stood upon the cusp of death, the woman did not feel her life draining towards the darkness. Even as the sickness of its filth lingered in her lungs and corrupted her inner self, she would not succumb. At least not yet. Time was of the essence, yet there was still a moment of pause in which she could regain her breath. One ragged inhale after the other burdened her lungs, but it was with the warm touch of a green mist that she felt the rejuvenating force within her veins. [+80hp | Poison -10% 10hp]It was not enough to bring her to stand without difficulty, but he could prop herself with the aid of her staff.

The bitter taste of blood was forgotten in favor of intense concentration. Her bi-colored eyes aglow with channeling energy honed intently on the wriggling thing still smiling but with a lacking vigor to his lecherous aura. She positioned the staff toward its face at the ready, holding back her onslaught as the younger male stepped forward to attack it instead. In wait, the spheres at her back swirled in their idle dance til the opportune moment arose and they came alive in a flare of deep black and red-orange light. Three times again the energy was released in concussion proportions that near deafened her own ears. [Vector Concussion x3 | -180mp | +1950dmg/2= +975dmg]In her hands she felt the force of the staff’s recoil as if noticing it for the first time, and felt her digits tremble. It was not the same as the flames of hellfire. This was a force more draining that seemed to come from within and beyond.

But where it stemmed from, she did not know.

What she did know was her growing desire to see the devious cretin immobile, and perhaps a sense of satisfaction from its demise.

Current Event: Angel Fall
Current BGM:

BATTLE OVER:
+1000EXP
+500GIL
+2 HI POTIONS

Alpha's attack would knock the purple Octopus off the raft, finally untangling the party from its gruesome grasp. However as you traveled further away from the creature the winds that had blown through the tunnel began to grow stronger until seemingly you were all in the middle of a hurricane. The raft began to knock into pieces of rock until eventually it was smashed and all of you were propelled into the water.  Unfortunately there was no way of stopping any of this, no way to climb to the side and hold on, you would just have to keep your head above the water and ride out the rapids till the end.

Light would very quickly appear at the end of the tunnel, though the wind it seemed had blown you down a different direction than the other raft and you all were....tossed out of a waterfall. The drop wasn't anything deadly, perhaps 40 feet from the ground though just because the water below buffeted your fall did not mean that it was not painful. Mogum the moogle luckily had managed to actually take flight as you were all tossed out, so he took his turn going around all of you using his curative magic to heal you all of whatever wounds that you had sustained in battle, and after. [Mogum heals whole party to full HP].

You had all landed in a clearing surrounded by trees, though quite beautiful one thing stood out. There were several rocks scattered across the ground that seemed to be dimly glowing, to Lorenzo's magical sight these rocks would appear like burning balls of fire, miniature suns that would hurt his eyes whenever he closed them. These rocks appeared to be debris from the meteor, minus the glowing they would appear to be brown rocks with bits of tarnished unrefined gem sticking out. Each rock seemed to have a different color of gem, red, green, yellow and purple. Mogum in particular seemed to be quite attracted to the gems...and like a fly to a light....

" Kupo....those look pretty kupo"

The little moogle would pick up a rock that had red gems spouting from it, for a moment nothing in particular happened but then without warning the Moogle began to panic and nearly tossed the stone. "....D-did you hear that Kupo?....There was a voice....speaking to me". Clearly these rocks were not ordinary rocks....in some ways they resembled magicite....however the magical charge within was far too potent, in some of these rocks there was more magic than in even the strongest of mages. Regardless of what you decided to do with the stones, the fact that this was impact debris meant that you were not far from the actual site....and following the pattern of spread you could probably find out just where the crash site was and hopefully find out what the others were doing.

Success! But with all matters, the woman was quick to understand, it was at a cost to not only herself but others around. As if in a final attempt to doom the passengers of the vessel, as the abomination sank to the depths, its release of the raft sent the wooden thing rocking with the turbulent movement of the waves. A wild thing, is swung wide along the watery passage into rocks, further wearing itself away to naught. Alarmed, the woman grabbed hold of the raft, holding on for dear life as it took its turn as conducted by a nameless fate.

She watched with eyes wide and in terror as the wild running raft dove into a protruding rock, snapping its nose and vaulting its occupants from its belly into the rough waters. The nameless woman panicked, arms flailing with legs kicking in a broken rhythm as she tried to keep herself above water at least long enough to take her breaths before slipping under again. Were it not for the running streams, new tears would have stained her face in fright. The newborn’s perception of life becoming a thing of frightening occurrences, one after the other. And though her knowledge of existence was limited, she knew innately of an end, and immediately wished for it when placed in this damning situation.

Her staff now forgotten had returned to its strange and mystical holster. The pocket of energy and space behind her opening and closing as what was directed by her spheres, now dormant against her back. But she did not notice. Her mind was too focused on the pull of the water with startling force. Her ears beheld the sound rush of rampant waves, growing louder as the party neared the drop of the falls. Pathetically, she tried to swim against it, clawing at the waters for dear life but to no avail. There was no reason as to why, but none the less she would turn to the soul visage of familiarity aside from the moogle that remained aloft. She reached for him, the white-haired man, as if his hand would provide her the comfort at the moment of her demise. Her eyes still aglow now wrought with terror turned to him with pleading pools… until his face was lost as vertigo took hold and she felt for the first time, the sensation of falling…

Before her eyes, there was darkness. Cool and familiar like the touch of a callus friend. A presence that both understood and despised, but was welcomed none the less… for it was all she knew. The eyes not of flesh, but of mind would open to receive the cool light that shown brightly before her. And as there had been before, there was an image bathed in light so stark, but she could not look away. She watched the lips… those careful lips move, forming the words of a name that she knew. It was the name of herself… and it was the name of him. It was the part of a whole that again in this lifetime would be incomplete.

…and then she gasped for air, singing the strained song of life as it was returned by moogle hands. Her little companion came to her on crimson wings and like a lost friend, she took him in her arms and held him close. A child holding fast to their toy lest it be taken in an instant. He was a miracle, her little companion. Her little guiding light with a red puff on top.

The woman took a moment to gather her breath and in turn released her companion to cater to his curiosity. She looked around the clearing they found themselves, and as with all new things, she was drawn in by the novelty. The sights, the scents, the very feel of new earth beneath her feet. It was strange.. yet wonderful. Wordlessly, she turned to her little friend, her mouth open to speak but words had yet to be heard. Instead, she watched him, ignoring her drenched state in favor of accommodating him. Her own curiosity for the strange stones that littered the ground fulfilled and explored by him. She crouched down when near him to have a gander at the stones herself… but nearly recoiled as he panicked while still holding the stone. There was no voice other than his own. Perhaps it was a fault with her companion she was not aware of. Regardless, once he calmed, she succumbed to her own curiosity to gently took his stone to observe it from within her own delicate grasp.

Spoiler:

With a last flurry of attacks, the octopus fell to its death, splashing them as it slid off the raft and into the river.  Without giving much thought, Lorenzo shook Asher off of his arm, and immediately reached for the oar.  They had wasted far too much time, and needed to catch up with the others.  He pushed off, but within minutes of continuing their journey, the wind in this underground tunnel became too much to steer through.  The oar was even yanked right out of Lorenzo’s hands, as the raft began to break apart beneath them.  Casting a quick blizzard spell, Lorenzo created a large chunk of ice.  He had intended on holding onto the ice as a sort of life preserver through the rapids.  But with as much annoyance as he could possibly contain, he found himself flying well over the ice block as the raft hit a rock, sending him splashing into the middle of the river.  Treading water in the midst of an underground storm, the maelstrom continually trying to pull him beneath the surface, he tried to get back to the ice, but with no avail.  Hopefully the others would be able to make use of it, at least.

Worse than the pull of the current and the wind, however, was the pull of gravity.  See, under regular circumstances, Lorenzo’s empty gauntlet was actually lighter than an arm of flesh and bone would be.  Not enough to make any difference in combat, but even so, it was surprisingly comfortable hanging from his bicep.  However, it was not exactly waterproof.  So, when he had been tossed into the river, he found that the gauntlet had been filling up with the liquid, which, naturally began to weigh him down.  Fortunately he had strong legs and decent lungs.  He managed to keep his head above water, and even swim with the current for a few moments, before the flow caught him, causing him to become little more than a tumbling mass of flailing limbs.

Lorenzo had to close his eyes against the filthy water, and in doing so, would see exactly what he expected to see.  Magic.  Powerful magic, bright burning light, like white hot flames pressed centimeters from his eyes.  This was absolutely the power of a Sorceress.  Opening his eyes, to protect against the blazing bright light, he found himself falling.  Eventually, he did manage to right himself, and find his way to shore.  He had to stand there for a few moments, as the water drained slowly from his metal arm, but it gave him time to gain his bearings.  The moogle had flew over to him, restoring him from the previous battle.  The moogle then floated over to a group of glowing rocks.  Closing his eyes, Lorenzo felt an immediate head splitting pain.  This magical power was greater than anything he had ever seen before.  The moogle picked up one of the rocks, something Lorenzo immediately knew was a bad idea.  Sure enough, the moogle yelped and threw the rock down.

Lorenzo bent down and examined one of the rocks scattered around.  There seemed to be many of them, all of which pieces of the meteor that had landed.  All of them glowing.  And, when Lorenzo closed his eyes, he could just see a ball of energy.  It was so bright, it went beyond the standard blue haze of magic he normally saw, but looked more like a white flame, energy was just radiating off the thing.  He took off his jacket, wrapping it around his arm several times, before reaching to touch the rock.

“Do not touch these with your bare skin.”  He called, “I have never seen so much Sorceress energy in one place.  There is no doubt Adel was absolutely in that meteor.”  He looked closely at the rock.  There was something about it, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.  “Now, I don’t know for sure, but if I had to guess, I would say these are pieces of the magic sealing material that my countrymen used to lock the Sorceress Adel away.   If I’m right, than these rocks might be invaluable in sealing up or even defeating Adel.”  He slid the rock he was holding carefully into his pack, being sure to place it in a separate pocket from his regular gear, just in case it was contaminated or something.  Not that he really expected an eighth of an inch of fabric to really stop the flow or radiating magic, but still, it was better than nothing.

“But, a Sorceress’ powers are immense.” He continued, eying another of the gems.  “It is thought that a Sorceress may imbed her thoughts into any object that contained her powers… a bit like a ghost, really.  It’s little more than a scary story to frighten children, but I have studied Sorceresses all my life, and I certainly wouldn’t rule it out as a possibility.  So, moogle person, what exactly did the voice sa- WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?”

He had turned away from the rock which he was now examining, and turned instead towards the moogle, as he asked his question.  And, as he turned, he saw the young woman holding the rock that the moogle had nearly tossed aside.  Lorenzo had to take a deep breath to keep himself calm.  Perhaps blowing up at her was not the best course of action.  And, besides, the moogle seemed physically fine.  It wouldn’t do for Lorenzo to freak out until they knew exactly what these rocks were.  Still, he also didn’t think it was best to go around holding them, considering he could literally see the magical radiation just flowing out of them.  And so, he walked up to the young woman, only now aware of just how much taller than him she was, and held out his hand, still wrapped in his jacket.  “That’s very dangerous.  Can you give it to me, please?”  He knew that most might be offended, being talked down to like this, regardless of how pleasant his voice may have been… but considering that this woman had spent most of the raft ride reading a picture book, Lorenzo somehow doubted that she would mind.

The raft making it's exit from the tunnel as Edgar had taken an oar in hand, she watched as he guided the thing to the shore. Once landed getting out of the raft, she looked around some before following Ky and the others up the hill, keeping low to the ground. Edgar had given a few options for going about the mission, but she was sure if they all tried to sneak in that it wouldn't end up well. Ky would speak up though shortly enough, explaining her idea for a strategy, she had to admit that Ky's would work out better most likely.

* all are good Ideas.. I have to wonder if even small animals are able to get into the area.. or are the ones guarding it going after nature it's self? *

She had to ask such as she could have merely shifted forms to her smaller fox like form and padded in silently to get close along with rift skipping directly to the place she needed to. Laying near the top of the hill as she peeked down to the area they were supposed to be going, her tails swaying behind her some as she looked back to Edgar, Ky, and Zola a moment. She still wondered a bit about the whole plan to blow the thing up, glancing back over the hill towards the encampment that seemed to surround the site. She thought on the possible options Edgar had mentioned, trying to think of different scenarios for each of them. Having heard Ky's idea she liked it as well but though creating the distraction would work well enough, she could rift skip to some other portion of the encampment, cause a ruckus and skip elsewhere in the meantime to draw attention away from Edgar or the rest of them if need be also.

* I do like Ky's idea, but of Edgars I would say creating a distraction. Don't get me wrong I'm all for going in and just wiping as many out as possible before they know what is going on, I am fairly good at that since I can hit a spot and then another in a different location. It would keep them on their toes, but they may keep a better eye out for anyone thats not already part of their military group.*

Giving her two cents on the possibilities at the moment as she climbed back down the hill a bit, sitting on the side of it and looking to the others. She would glance back towards the tunnel they had come out of, not hearing anyone or seeing anything else seemingly coming out, she had to wonder if maybe the other group had indeed been defeated by the beasty that attacked them. She would shake her head with a sigh, at least having thought they would hold up far better against it if they did indeed fail.

* Guess their isn't much to do about the others for the time being, maybe once done we can go back and recover the bodies. *

She wasn't certain they were defeated but they were not coming out of the tunnel that was for sure at the time now, and she had mostly forgotten about the other possible tunnels as they made it strait to were Edgar had needed them to go.

* Their was mention of Advanced Magitech since this things came to be here.. do any of the soldiers in those tents use any of this new tech themselves? *

The question came out of nowhere but it had suddenly crossed her mind, after all it could make things a complete different challenge when they got down to trying to plan out the situation better.

He was thankful the other person had managed to step up and finish off the monster. It seethed as it died, but the thing was forced to release them. Asher's stomach felt raw - his muscles tightening and flexing seemingly on their own. He slipped the gunblades into their holsters at his side, and closed his eyes. But it didn't take a genius to figure out they were moving faster. The wind was whipping, and the boy was gritting his teeth, trying to come up with something. The first crack of the raft splitting and pitching had him tighten his grip on the raft...

But it didn't help at all.

It practically crumbled beneath his hands, and he was thrown off. He hit the water once more, and he began to whimper and flail beneath the churning water. His mind was working in overdrive - there was no Rena to jump him from one place or another. He didn't know if he could teleport - he didn't know if he'd survive this. He could practically hear the darkness in him laughing, waiting for its opportunity to reach out and take him again, even if only for a little while.

His fingers tagged something cold - but solid. He clutched to it, desperately, though the ice formation was slick and the waters violent, he managed to dig his fingernails in to it. His hands were already going numb as he latched on, using the buoyant ice to keep his head above water at least. That was when the light blew up around him, and he found himself thrown into the air. He gasped, sharply, arms rotating in a futile effort to bring himself back to normal. It wasn't helping at all.

Wings! He thought, frantically, calling forth the energy---

Except it didn't.

His eyes widened - the reflex was useless, he didn't have anything there right now. His body was careening down, back towards the water, wind whipping his tail uselessly. He glanced to the ground, where bits of rock and rubble had been scattered around, and felt for it.

Asher winked out of existence, popping back in safely on the ground. He wasn't standing - he'd vanished and reappeared in roughly the same position. But he'd gladly lay on the ground, where it was solid and sturdy. He grimaced, uncertainly, as he pushed himself first to sitting, then to standing. He'd done that. Gone to exactly where he wanted to go. For the first time since arriving, his power had done exactly what he damn well expected it to. Letting out a drawn out sigh, he glanced around.

Carefully, quietly, he spotted a single point, next to one of the smaller rocks, and willed himself there. He arrived, effortlessly, with a smattering of pyreflies flickering into existence next to him. But he felt strangely tired - Asher had never had a problem before. Mostly to test, he popped back into existence next to the now-monologuing Lorenzo, and tried to zap himself back. That time, though, nothing happened. It was like his energy, or his willpower had petered out, much like when he was first getting the hang of his skill.

Still, he let out noise of happiness. His body was feeling more natural. He wasn't 100%, but he was at least getting there. It only took a life-or-death situation to put him there. The Mog, who was healing people, was given a small thanks - though Asher had been about to tell him not to worry - Asher couldn't be healed.

Until he was, of course.

His brows furrowed, but he just let that go, for now. There was no reason to think on it - after all, his powers were still on the fritz.

Hopefully that's all it meant.

"So crazy powerful mage?" He asked, uncertainly. The difference between 'sorceress' and 'mage' had not quite made its way to his brain, as he shook himself, trying to get dry. He pulled his weapons - which were also soaked, now, and set them down to hopefully dry out faster. "Anyone have any fire spells? Or maybe these rocks will be... fire...y?" He asked, mostly just wanting to be less damp again.
